The Exorcist 4 Years ago
I must I was scared when I saw The Exorcist in the mid 80's for the first time; however the sequels are pretty decent. It was out commercially in USA so was Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I don't get why Texas Chainsaw Massacre was banned in the UK you don't see a lot of gore, however it's great movie for Halloween I remember sitting with my grandma to watch it, she thought the film was good also - however it didn't need a franchise. Friday the 13th and Halloween are cure for insomnia for me.

Evil Dead trilogy is a superb viewing, I wasn't freaked out by it but love Ash's sarcasm. Bruce Campbell is a terrific guy also. Evil Dead is good because looking back is funny for all the wrong reasons, however for time it was a serious horror movie. However it's not as scary as the Weeding Singer.

The Exorcist, was in my opinion was one of the best horror films ever, along with the Wicker Man. However, when have sequels several decades later every worked, particularly without the leading actor (Linda Blair) on board. There is/was an Amazon Prime series of the Exorcist, which I got bored off after 1 episode (like most of Amazon prime originals).

Linda Blair was in Exorcist II: The Heretic ! I actually like the Exorcist original trilogy. Even Nightmare of Elm Street - The Dream Warriors is very watchable and great metal soundtrack adds to it.

Every year a friend holds a Halloween party and plays different cuts of the Wicker Man. It's a superb movie and each cut is interesting.

Some interesting articles on the Wicker Man. I remember seeing it on tv a few years ago in a season of cult films on the bbc. Alex Cox introduced it stating that the lost footage was embedded in some motorway bridge by mistake and it was originally cut because it appeared on a double bill, as was often the case in those days. I have the dvd version with the missing 6 minutes prior to Wooodward arriving on the island by plane. Which ever version of this film you see, I still think it is the Best British Horror film, probably the best anywhere, and the US remake with Nicolas Cage is an abomination. It inspried films such as Midsommer, which is also good.

As for the Exorcist, a great film, but I didn't care too much for the sequels, and neither did the critics. I look forward to the forthcoming sequel featuring a very elderley Ellen Burstyn, but no Linda Blair, although I dont' have great expectations.

Fuck the critics !

I remember them slating Blue Velvet back in the day. It's regarded as one the best films ever made, another one of my favourites.
