I was today at Weymouth Sea Life Centre looking at seahorses and things.
They are hot on encouraging mask wearing (I sighed loudly but after eye contact from Mrs Wyot I hastily donned a mask...), they enforce social distancing, operate a one way system and if you don't join the entry queue within 15 mins of your alloted time you won't be allowed in.
So far all so right-on good. Until, that is, you arrive at the cash cow of their shop at the end of your trip.
There the queues to the till are 20 deep and 4 wide. You can't raise your arms and breath comes intermittently, if you are lucky.
And I realised: no one deep down takes this stuff seriously; not the venue owners, nor the punters. They say the "right thing" and go along with it, but aren't acting in the way they would act if this was a lethal pandemic to the majority.
I took the partner there about 3 years ago. We were there for the whole day from opening to closing time.
It was very soothing going to each section and spending time watching sea life behaviour and we were in awe watching the majestically sea turtles.
I won't go there again a hurry if are enforcing masks and social distancing.
Laws have been uplifted on masks and social, if you're only allowed 15 minutes in each aquatic house then they are pushing tourists away.
I love treating my partner to gift shops at attractions especially Sea Life Centre. If a big cuddly seal or stuffed sea turtle makes her happy then I'm happy.
The Sea Life Centre in Bournemouth is not that good compared to the one in Weymouth.
Do keep me posted Wyot, if masks and social distancing are uplifted fully at Sea Life Centre.

Don't let my post put you off GM. You don't have to wear a mask & the 15 min queue thing is only to get in the centre itself - not every aquatic house.
It is just sooooo obvious that the pious nods all the way around to Covid correctness go to hell when it comes to mammon.
The centre will do anything to make a buck; the punters anything to get the cuddly sea turtles. No one deep down is taking it seriously; it is just something we feel we have to do now.
I too could watch marine life for hours.
I was annoyed when the boats didn't work has I lost my £2.
The cafeteria is a bit of a con there but again most cafeterias are at attractions and the food is bland.
Was Amy the sea turtle there Wyot, she's the one with the very poorly back ?

Sorry she wasn't GM. The only sea turtles there were called Josie, Sharkey & Gumbo.
Perhaps she was moved to another aquarium - they do move them around.
You make them sound like they are members of the House of Commons.
