Finally some honesty..... 3 Years, 12 Months ago
The Gov is prepared to lock us down over winter if the NHS - whether through flu or Covid or anything else - may approach capacity. Nothing to do with excess deaths at all.

They have underfunded the NHS for years, and the solution is to keep people indoors & away from loved ones. And millions of idiots will just go along with it now; probably clapping for the NHS while they do so.

I think Boris is just a detail; God knows how Starmer would use this new found power a majority of unquestioning idiots has handed over.

Search your history books for when rulers have handed back a new found power...

Our only hope, I think (I know you disagree GM believing Boris is "run from elsewhere"), lies with Boris. He is a libertarian by instinct & had to be dragged into the lockdowns.

If he can grow a pair and resist the vested interests in the monster SAGE he has breathed life into; Doctor Frankenstein may prevail...

Boris is a libertarian on paper.

If so, the majority of the nation agreed with him...

And now regret it. His handling of the pandemic has been shambolic.

We should have voted for Starmer then?

And get a lockdown-free country, maybe!

No; one of the few things TRUMP got exactly right was "Want to drop the numbers down? Test fewer people". We don't test for flu or colds. If we did there would be massive PanicDemics. "87% of the world has mild flu!!!!". Close all borders! Why test for stupid Covid? It's a trivial virus, always was, simply needed a vaccine to protect the elderly and vulnerable (like flu). Which scientists did in seconds.

Oh go on Barney I can't resist -

GM did not state that he believes Boris has handled the pandemic "shambolically" because or even solely because he used lockdowns. He didn't mention lockdowns: you did.

You then answered your own question (the one you wanted to answer) with the peerless logic: I will defend A by pointing out that B is shit too.

Checkmate.

Starmer was full for stricter lockdowns and has now back down on draconian measures. Starmer is a massive flip flopper just like Lindsey Graham.

While no fan of Boris he at least attempted to deal with the situation (leaving how well he did aside!). Starmer just tried to feast off the Covid dead (and unemployed) in this country to gain popularity; and failed miserably. I couldn't have a lower opinion of him.
