As we watch petrol run out; Governments realise it's all down to stupid Brexit decide to allow foreign drivers to come in; drivers don 't want to enter unwelcome UK and can't get petrol here anyway... it is sheer lunacy.

Just like Covid - a trivial variant of CoronaVirus which was only dangerous or lethal to a tiny minority - inflated and hyped into Killer Plague by media; fallen for by punters; and by Government over reacting like mad. Now it dawns that, with the vaccine, it's no more dangerous than flu but the damage has been done.

Just as the damage has been done with Brexit.

It will all level out eventually but it's been totally crazy, with millions of unnecessary deaths and bankruptcies.

What's next? More false allegations before it dawns that the majority are lies?

So if foreigners don't want to come to the UK, why are coming to the UK by dinghies in droves and staying in hotels for free plus expenses ?

My local forecourt was not busy whatsoever this week - people need to stop listening to the media.

Lorry drivers are retiring, it's a hard job to do and hours are long and unpredictable. Wages are lower and you can earn the same amount money just by stacking shelves in supermarkets.

The farmers who I know have kept their all European workers on the fields - the farmers helped them get the right the visas to remain.

They are minimum wage but they are happy doing crop picking, not forgetting some farmers supply very comfy living quarters, however this does come out the wage packet but only a small percentage is taking out. This is only to cover the heating, water bills and any repairs that occur due to wear and tear. Which the farmers will repair or replace when required.

The farmers don't like British born workers because they are "lazy" and they moan about the weather, want to go for cigarette breaks all the time. The government should get the immigrants who are coming from dinghies to enter the UK need to start picking up the crops for a wage packet.

Lorry drivers who drive fuel tankers used to be on a great wage because it's a job not many can do - haulage firms are not respecting their staff any more - there's another factor why there's a shortage of trained drivers.

There is a difference GM in being a Polish lorry driver who can earn a gig in Europe and avoid Nigel Farage with a video camera on a boat in the channel; and someone fleeing a war zone in a dinghy...

The forecourts in Surrey are closed or have queues half a kilometre long. I don't think people are acting irrationally at all. If this Gov announces we won't run out of petrol it is more likely than not that we will.

Thankfully I can walk to my office on The Thames from home; but I understand why millions - esp with jobs already made precarious through our response to Covid & Brexit - are so distressed.

They cross various countries around Europe before getting a dinghy !

Is France war torn, Wyot ?!

I have emailed my local MP why for years homeless veterans have been ignored and not been taking to hotels. I have not heard anything from him and it's been 3 months since I have emailed him.

You can't do years in combat and expect to go back to normal like nothing has happened. I never felt threatened or intimated by any homeless soldiers - like I do with the junkies in the inner cities or seaside towns. It's the government that fucks the veterans up mentally and physically.

Why aren't the people coming from dinghies earning their keep ? I sure the home office can approach farmers to hire immigrants, get them vetted also then make them do some fruit picking. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

The UK has a population and houses crises just like the USA at the moment.

I'm with you on the veterans GM it is disgraceful.

Asylum seekers cross France to the UK to work in the black economy which is much easier to do than in France and much of mainland Europe: because we don't have a national identity card system or Police the black economy.

The benefits for asylum seekers in the UK is actually less per week than in France; but they don't come to get benefits, they come to work - albeit illegally - as they can enjoy a better quality of life than "scrounging" benefits.

Let's put them to work as HGV drivers and get some tax off them in the process; everyone's a winner baby!

I don't dare ask my Brexit voting nursing pal about whether she has petrol (I know she has to drive a fair way to work with her minimal hours NHS job) as she's still mourning the loss of her trusty Polish mechanic who packed up and went back to Poland.
