I got dragged along to this film, and I would really advise against it. 2 hours 35 mins of trudging through the desert meeting various cgi creatures and aircraft, that we've seen 100s of times before. The dialogue is non-existent and un-engaging. It really is one just for sci-fi fanboys.

I walked out after 25 minutes. The original was great.

I walked out of the original!
I did walk walk out in the first Lord Of The Rings. I do remember playing Time Crisis for near 3 hours in foyer waiting for mates to come out. It was one expensive evening.
However I remember watching Biggles in the cinema numerous times back in 1988 - talk about taking liberties with the original stories.

Common opinion is that the original was terrible and didn't really work. I didn't see the original, the new one gets some good reviews, including from Mark Kermode. I was bored silly with it, but sci-fi isn't really my thing.

I gave up on Mark Kermode years ago. I know films are personal choice like music is but the films he slated I did enjoy. Blue Velvet being one of them back in the 80's.
Sci-fi died in the late 90's for me when they became looking like cartoons. I actually enjoyed Highlander 2 and the Renegade cut is one of my favourite's. I have binged on every Highlander movie and watched every cut so far of Wicker Man.
Honey, I would recommend A Gnome Named Gnorm (Upworld) or if you're brave Robot In The Family.
