Fascinating one sided Guardian article 3 Years, 9 Months ago
on the Jimmy Savile story. Assuming he was indeed a predatory paedophile - excellent. Examining the possibility that a great media story can catch fire? Not good. Perhaps there will be an alternative Guardian article on that fascinating topic. Unless they (like most media) believe such a thing is not possible, even if the victim is dead and unable to defend himself.

Notice the lack of Mark Williams Thomas mentions. Note the lack of coverage of the forged letter on Surrey Police headed paper. As the writer is aware, sometimes omission can be more convenient than denial.

I don't understand this bit... "“The women are credible and have no motive for speaking to us other than they want the truth to be known"

Why did anyone accept this as true when a two minute flick through Facebook would suggest otherwise?

I bet Mark Williams Thomas is fuming; he knows the total lack of mention for him means the article writer and paper have seen that his involvement is a very dodgy flaw in the story. It cannot be accidental The Guardian fails to mention him. Too much evidence is now out there.

Yes, I get the impression that the clock is ticking down. I almost feel sorry for him.

It’s like being in a pantomime with calls of “it’s behind you” falling on deaf ears. There’s no point letting anyone intent on accepting the Duncroft allegations as the truth, know about Anna Raccoon’s research work. The topic has become an incredibly emotive one. Anyone daring to go back to source in this current highly charged and highly strung climate would be cancelled.

MWT from Twitter

have always kept silent about the detail of just how hard it was to make #JimmySavile programme, preferring to let the programme speak for itself & allow the good to come form the expose. So reading this article has really upset me- wiped from history

the way Savile's estate was plundered by them and their lawyers might suggest they have a motive. Shocking that the media ignores this factor.

And also ignores that the BBC was forced to pay out endless compensation..not one which required proof..to claimed Savile victims.

The lawyer Mizz Ducks even claimed there was a "cut off" point to the BBC compensation claims. Really? Under what possible law is there a "cut off" point to an alleged crime (I think she really meant she had a cut off point possibly after the numerous claimants she had to deal with)

And of course The Met said they had no intention of investigating claims of abuse by Savile because he was dead. Yet they investigated claims about Ted Heath who was also kaput?

The entire affair has been an almighty balls up.

The piece has written, first and foremost, as a tribute to a friend - not as a search for the truth.

How ironic. This is one of three personal quotes on MWT's IMDb profile:

There's one thing convincing the public, but convincing the family and those closest to him was huge. When you start to see streets changed and any semblance of Savile being wiped out ... I can't think of anyone in history who has risen to such heights and fallen so quickly.

It's a quote from a 2013 Guardian article: Mark Williams-Thomas: I ran the Savile film like a criminal investigation

Mary's newspaper claim is still on the net..where he says he had been a police officer "investigating child abuse for 30 (?) years" which means he joined the force at age 14.

But he didn't really make that show did he? He just took all the BBC research after they shelved the original program and used it to boost his small part in it.

Superb opportunism but really, a one trick pony now possibly looking to be put out to pasture.

He really does make things up, who is the "family and those closest to him" is he referring to?!

Call me naive but if he was responsible for these 100s and 100s of allegations of abuse then the chances were that he'd have done it to the 'wrong kid' who's parents would have Savile knee capped at best.

Not one bit of this mess makes again any sense whatsoever.

I've always, said the same...... It makes no sense whatsoever that "450+" people "said nothing". Truly bonkers.

Indeed as most were working class girls who often have an angry dad back home.

# My Grandfather was forced to marry my Grandmother by an angry dad when she became pregnant at 15.

Will the police now be investigated for using child labour ?

perhaps he had an unusual obsession with child abuse at age 14. Perhaps he was an (annoyingly) precocious child.

The fact is- it goes to the heart of a supposed "journalist" or "investigator's" integrity.

Was it an editorial slip up?. The article is written in the first person and gives the impression (below with a link ) that he had been a detective for 30 years. It was published in 2014. He was born in born in 1970 according to his Wikipedia page which I'm sure he guards religiously. Hence he must have been 14 when his "30 years experience" began.

# I personally thought the article irresponsible & gratuitous serving no positive purpose. Given child "prostitution" (sex abuse) in Brazil is rampant and the article offered no solutions or aid for Brazilian children living in dire poverty.

It was sensationalism for it's own sake and possibly alerted 1000s of British pedophiles that they could travel to Brazil under the guise of the World Cup.

I think all the MWT-fronted programmes I've seen could be described in that way, like most "real crime" programmes (though maybe the Savile programmes should be described as "make believe"). Entertainment from other people's misery.
