I had a sweet E-Mail from him only a week ago.

A very nice man and actually rather good at what he did too.

I was fond of him and he was fond of me.

Rest In Peace old bean and love to Yvette.

Just heard. Very sad. He brought a spark of genius to everything he did. The NHS apparently refused to treat him. Terrific health service in this country.

my sentiments exactly, I grew up watching him on Granada Reports which he presented for over 20 years. I later grew up to realise that he was one of the greatest music impressarios and talent spotters in Britain with a passion for music and Manchester. He will be greatly missed as he was a wonderfull personality.
