The police force seems set up to attract thick people who like to feel important, and bullies and perverts.
Even their uniforms, once a smart suit, now suggest combat.

I remember being a kid, a police officer was known in the community. They knew you and you knew them. If you was up to something, they would give you a firm bollocking and slap behind your ear from your parents soon followed.

Once they told your parents what you were up to.

Even the officers would throw themselves in to domestic violence fights and bar brawls to break things up.

I remember me and my sisters and their sets of friends were building things in the woods like treehouses and dens, the local plod would join in to assist with carrying tools and timber. Then pretend they was on a look out when they were off duty.

We grew up respecting the police however changed for me in the early 90's same with courts and judges. Not forgetting when I was burgled they told me to "look online for my property and buy it back". I said it's "against the law to buy stolen property". They said they done all they can - which was sweet FA.

Next time when my house is broken in to I might say 'I am non-binery helicopter named Rosie'.
