What the media and officers did to that poor Russian skater who (they say) is the greatest ever - watching her lose her confidence, watching how the entire situation got to her amounted to watching child abuse. Surely it could have been handled better? Like so many things, I have no idea (other than media which I do not trust) whether she's guilty, innocent, on steroids or mainlining heroin. But like Surrey Police and handling sex allegations (Google William Murdock) the way these things are treated can mean life or death Appalling.
A child can commit murder and the press can't name them. Like you say surely this could have been handled better. How is any 15 year old meant to deal with pressure, exposure and opprobrium on this level? And there should be an investigation into those around her supplying her (and in all likelihood pressuring her) to take drugs. We are a very mixed up society where kids are concerned.
Now watch media do the usual - deflect attention from their (and the IOC's) disgraceful coverage of the poor girl. Black Lives Matter. MeToo.StephenPort it goes on...
