I've read two biographies of Putin..one by a Russian journalist.

A completely underestimated man who relentlessly forged his way to the top.

Russian leaders have always been long winded, but Putin is a consumate politician, with a 70% approval rate; virtually unheard of in the west.

Highly educated (a doctorate in economics), he quickly reduced taxes and dramatically increased GDP to a level where the country is almost self-sufficient.

Few western politicians are in his league (certainly not Biden or Johnson), and Putin is well on track in his strategy to make Russia the dominant world power.

70% approval rates tend to be heard of in countries that control the outcome of the polls Barney...

There's Boris and Nicola who are more obsessed with gender pro-nouns. Biden with his cue cards, Trudeau who is scared of truckers, Macron who hided also when the French people marched against Covid the mandates no doubt they will surrender when they hear the first bomb.

Twitter and all other media & commentators so tiring. You would think these two statements can't both be true:

1. NATO has provoked Putin for years
2. Putin is wrong to invade a sovereign country.

Why do the vast majority have to hide in one extreme or another? How can reconciliation, more importantly, be achieved when people behave like this?

Bill Browder's comment about Putin "taking a “prison yard” approach" is in line with what Julia Ioffe (Twitter) said on the BBC last night. She said Lavrov had recently joked about Macron being raped in prison.

The BBC were also interviewing Jewish people in Kyiv, including elderly women who had survived the Holocaust. Odessa apparently has a rich Jewish culture. Insane that Putin is making out that this is a war against Nazis, but plenty of people in Russia probably believe him.
