So where do I stand on Ukraine? 3 Years, 5 Months ago
Answer - I know nothing. I only know what the Media tells me and I do not trust media - and would feel the same if I lived in Russia where I would get ONLY the other side. And I also feel very few questions have simple answers. I gather this has been going on for 8 years. I would have thought - simplifying - that if two regions overwhelmingly want to be independent (like Scotland wants - perhaps) or Russian, there should be a peaceful referendum. But again - I know nothing. And - like Covid - I refuse to go along with media exaggerated agenda (cancelling sports events, sanctions etc).

Growing noise that what Putin fears most now is a Palace coup as many in his inner-circle believe the invasion to be a "catastrophic mistake" for Russia that most of them didn't support. Which it is. Let's hope a move is made on him, fast.

Here's hoping you're right, Wyot. The BBC has just been interviewing a Russian journalist in Moscow saying that around 1700 demonstrators were detailed on Thursday, another 1000 on Friday, that there are likely to be more demonstrations today and that various celebrities who used to be pro-Putin are now speaking out against the war and risking their careers.
I feel so sorry for these people having their lives turned upside down and having to leave the country and the men stuck there having to fight. The Red Cross is apparently active in Ukraine, will be staying there according to a representative in Geneva interviewed on the BBC this morning. I donated yesterday and will probably do so again next week.

I’ve had a lifetime fascination with modern european wars and so have been, for quite some time, learning as much as I can about the current situation in Ukraine - from BOTH sides’ perspectives.
The most powerful piece of documentary film (from a Ukraine/‘west’ angle) is the Netflix documentary “Winter On Fire” which I’d really urge you to watch - especially should you wish to start understanding what lies beneath the population’s fierce determination to withstand tyrannic rule.
It recounts the events of the 2014 Maidan people’s uprising and is, disregarding any political stance, by turns shocking, uplifting, grizzly and heroic.
I cried frequently throughout it but ended up with a much better understanding of what drives this country to the hugely courageous lengths we are witnessing now.
I’d urge you to watch it, right now. Just stop what you’re doing and watch it.
