but I still feel that if 600,000 NATO peacekeepers (20,000 from each member state) enters Ukraine, unarmed, in bright PEACE jackets and a 20 people team stops every tank or vehicle and says "OK; no violence but you have the following choices. Turn around and leave Ukraine or be arrested, your tank or vehicle taken and disarmed and you will be placed in prison here in Ukraine". If Russian violence is threatened the two UKRAINIAN soldiers with each twenty man peacekeeping unit will shoot to kill. As is their right.

As Russia is one of the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council, presumably it could just veto any deployment of UN peacekeepers to Ukraine? But it is an interesting question 1. Is there away to deploy without a unanimous vote? and 2. If yes then why is/has this not been looked at?
