Banning Russians? Disgraceful. Other country athletes refuse to compete against Russians even if they are neutral? Stupid. Sports people are often, I find, sweet but stupid. They make up for lack of brain cells by having superior physical abilities. But when gullibles seriously damage the lives and hopes of athletes - shocking. When organisations bow down to media hype (they always do)? Horrible. Like Eurovision, these contests have nothing to do with politics. If British athletes refused to participate in a global contest because they disagreed with British politics, I'd be equally scornful. I hate it when human beings, pretending to act in a noble and fine way, actually abuse innocent people.
It's all down to simplification, the curse of our species this century.
You see in this simplified world, it is not only impossible but dangerous to think of the damage a ban like this does to those disabled athletes who have to go home, tails between legs, to probable withdrawal of benefits in Russia. Damage to their disappointed families and friends. You can suspect funding to disabled organisations will be taken away now in Russia. Some paralympians will commit suicide (like falsely accused people globally).
But nobody gives a shit about that. Too complicated. What's for dinner?
