TOPIC: Hype! Hype! Hype!

Hype! Hype! Hype! 3 Years, 4 Months ago
As this media story goes on (and let's be honest, I feel Putin was wrong to invade Ukraine and should be resisted) because Covid is now agreed to be trivial and boring (well they got two years of headlines from it), we see the new promotion and marketing inflation. Without the global media hype, this drama would have passed like Crimea did, with a mere puff of dismay from media. Or like Rohingya - a couple of hypocritical wails, some old clothes sent out there and little else.

But, like "clapping the NHS" and turning Major Tom into a hero, we've now slipped into dangerous territory. "Kill Putin" seems to have become the media slogan. Yes, we know they may be trying to kill Paddington Bear but two evils are not better than one. It amazes me but does not surprise me that the majority of punters are so stupid and gullible. This century humanity has become terrifyingly simplistic and extreme and seems to have lost all sense of decency. Every single "great story" is exaggerated and inflated. Papers, TV, radio want more blood, screams, suffering whilst pretending to want peace. Just as they wanted to make more deaths from a Covid "killer plague" instead of a nasty but trivial new flu variant.

Make no mistake. The tragedy of Ukraine is not down to Media, Putin, Russia, Ukraine, Boris or Paddington. It is down to us. We have simply become so stupid and gullible and lazy. Lions and Christians. Give us death.

Every time I see photos of that 40 mile Russian convoy I cannot understand why it isn't pockmarked by hundreds of blown up tanks and lorries, giant holes in the road in the gaps between chunks of vehicles. I thought these days tiny drones could be launched with small bombs like hand grenades at limited cost by two or three man teams working at night. Am I being conned by the movies? Are these fictions? Or am I missing something?

So what has Cassandra King been predicting for the past couple of weeks? The Ukrainians will be happy to secede those two annoying Eastern provinces to Russia. Russia will withdraw, proclaim peace and ask the West to cancel all sanctions. End of. Next Media drama please.

The moment Putin launched a full invasion into Ukraine he revealed that he is not a rational agent; as it is totally against his interests. So I can't see how it can play out like this.

My predictions: a long drawn out war that drags out into the summer; escalating slowly but surely. Russia will take the Country, but the Ukranians will never let him own it. He will either in the summer be taken out by his own side or out of sheer frustration and to "end it" (citing the Wests actions at Hiroshima as precedent) explode a localised nuclear warhead in Ukraine.

At this point we will be drawn into a conventional European war with Russia. The US, for a time, will watch how this goes despite NATO agreements about an attack on one etc. They will find a way not to; because if the US intervene global nuclear destruction for all is certain.

* The US may actually come to an agreement with Putin and other NATO countries about this, while conventional warfare engulfs the continent *

I will stop my predictions there for review (if I am in a position to! Late Summer).

It perhaps goes without saying that my preferred outcome is that Mr JK gets to bask in the glory of his savvy reading of media and world affairs in a couple of weeks time...
