TOPIC: Am I missing something?

Am I missing something? 3 Years, 4 Months ago
Iran wanted the 400 million owed to it to be paid. UK has always refused. Now the UK has agreed and done so. The British/Persian woman has been released. Why didn't we do this 6 years ago? I do wonder about our government. WANKERS is the word that springs to mind.

Mad Media SHOULD be covering this by saying how marvellous Iran has been and how decent and kind their gesture is - surely the correct strategic way? Likewise they should be saying Putin is right, his effort to free up those two areas of Ukraine has worked; now he should pull out and allow Ukraine to return to normal. What has happened to diplomacy? Instead of saving lives and defusing situations, governments and gullibles obey the desire for A GOOD STORY.

Of course you’re missing something! Like that nice May woman told us ‘There IS no Magic Money Tree’… oh, no, wait…

Do you REALLY think that was all there was to it??? Honestly? For one thing, that 'payment' is a classic Civil Service sleight of hand. If you're genuinely paying a debt, you don't get to say how the recipient spends it. You surely grasp THAT, don't you? That is money earmarked by the UK for humanitarian purposes, which is now merely being re-directed to its object. What actually was at the root of the problem remains to some extent inscrutable to outsiders, but the idea the Foreign Office could have flicked a switch several years ago, and only now decided to do so, is stunningly idiotic. Sorry, but it is.
