TOPIC: Governments as bad as Media

Governments as bad as Media 3 Years, 3 Months ago
Official Downing Street statement refers to "hard working employees". How do they know they are all hard working at P&O? Many could be slackers; lazy and useless. Like many NHS workers. But it's all exaggerate, colour, obey the new century rules. Truth is simply not good enough.

The background here merits scrutiny, in that this foreign owned company claimed £15m in grants during 2020.

Furlough payments were included in this sum. However, in the same year, the company paid dividends of £270m!

And why are they even commenting? Private company in trouble sacks staff; happens all the time. I suppose they could have apologised for crippling the cruise industry for 2 years with pointless Covid restrictions....Truth is as soon as anything emotive appears in the media - or is generated by it - the Gov just has to jump on the bandwagon.

P&O is a Public company, and that's why it pays dividends.

It's ultimate/beneficial owner is the Government of Dubai.

Foreign ownership is all around us. Newcastle, both Manchester teams, Arsenal etc.

And so many FYSE 100 companies. It just took Chelsea/Abramovitch/Ukraine to remind us.

UAE countries (including Dubai) have successfully infiltrated the West, economically.

But Saudi Arabia is well ahead of the posse. Their list of UK investments is impressive!

To the LSE (stock exchange), a Lichtenstein or Monaco investment company seems fine. Source of funds not too relevant.

We all agree then!

The P&O matter is indicative of the future.

With a foreign owned entity, paying UK taxes and claiming what's available, quickly exiting an unpalatable market.

Staff and customers are irrelevant. The usage of generous UK employment benefits isn't.

It shows another kind of non-resident smiling from afar, after enjoying the good times here. And benefiting from a legislation which can't keep up.

Lessons were given by our very own heroes of the past: Mr/Sir Green etc.

The government actually IS the media. The tail has been wagging the dog too long.

It can't be because the media can turn on the Government. The media is the boss of the Government.

We do Barney; that's the problem. Like Democracy which doesn't work anymore since the majority are brain dead morons.

Exactly. Therefore, it is the real government.

Selected, but by the electorate only.

Not by big business or the media.

Or anyone else, anywhere on earth.

Indeed, and the times when for instance, people vote for a particular person thinking the NHS will be revitalised and instead they get locked up for months and cant see a doctor for years!
