Church 3 Years, 3 Months ago
When I see vicars and priest's on TV, talking about Ukraine. I always think where is their God and what's he doing about it ?

So this evening I walked past the church to see our local vicar, not long ago when walking the dogs. All I got was grumbles and a tut as an answer.

I even asked why don't the church house homeless servicemen ? Has the vicar still grumbled and mumbled away as he walked to his Jaguar car. Even Mr Grainger from Are You Being Served at least spoke ?

I get more responses from my dogs than than our vicar. No doubt the vicar would be asking for money soon.

I remember the priest as a kid, he was only in the job for the house and beer money he got from donations.

I think you might have got God mixed up with Jim'll Fix It.

I find it almost impossible to accept dead children as somehow part of a plan by an omniscient being for something "greater".

What is the point? I genuinely have never understood any religious "explanation" of this. It is something they hate talking about.

A counter argument from some is that God does not intervene; he lets his creations organically play out their lives. To do otherwise is to remove free will from mankind.

Only he does intervene, constantly, certainly in all the books of the Abrahamic religions. In the Old Testament he is always judging, and killing. He unleashes genocide when disrespected. He advocates slavery.

Oh but it is an ancient text, not to be taken literally. Then why read it or follow it at all? Surely, God, if he exists, is outside of time? His word is eternal, not temporal. What, he gave us his words but didn't mean them!? He is jerking us off?

This said, a lot of good is done by religious people. To not have any concept of God and ultimate judgment allows unmitigated selfish subjectivity. Should we believe because it is healthier as an individual and society to do so?

I just can't; but kind of admire people who can.

Why would God let his creation be destroyed ? Look at Airfix models they take time, care, patience to complete you wouldn't let some random fool destroy it.

Why would he let his son die ? I got upset even when my goldfish died.

He didn't. He let his son assume human form for a "bad weekend", be killed and then return to sit at his side in heaven.

Some sacrifice...

It can only be looked on as a sacrifice if you experience The Passion in human terms.

This is not unexpected given there is not a shred of evidence that it is anything other than a story made up by humans.

Great story though.
