just watched this brilliant film by
Rupert Everett but
boy, did it make me depressed.
I had nightmares.
Everett was brilliant and this film does him so much credit.
He really brought home how shabbily Wilde was treated and how ghastly that
Bosie was (who became a raging right wing anti-Semite in later years).
I knew Rupert long before he became famous (Brush With Fame #99).
He was also shabbily treated in the media in his early days.. for being gay & not admitting it ? ..I think really because he was Upper Middle Class and perceived as snobbish (he's not).
He is a superb author.
# Everett's book on making the film is a great read.
I think I've had enough Oscar Wilde for now.
