Imran Khan seems to be suffering from the new morality - hugely affected by the media coverage and general public hardening of attitude. Note Crispin Blunt's comments. He clearly knows more about this case than any of us and yet has been totally condemned by media and almost all commentators and fellow politicians for daring to suggest that this has been a miscarriage of justice.
In today's society, such wrongful convictions simply do not occur. But worse; nobody is allowed to suggest such things.
As I've found, even suggesting somebody may be presumed innocent before a trial is appalling - in the minds of the stupids. The flak I've had for daring to suggest that Jimmy Savile is a victim of false claims and must be presumed innocent, whether dead or alive, has been amazing.
I have no knowledge of Khan's situation. From reading about his trial it seems that even if totally guilty, he did not do anything worse than try to do something rejected by the (then) 15 year old. If he had continued - more wrong. If he had forced something - very wrong indeed. But surely a slap on the wrist is all that he deserves. If he gets worse (he already has) any one who ever tried and failed in an approach should be prosecuted and, if found guilty, punished. Which, I would suggest, would be about 75% of all males and 25% of all women.
