TOPIC: Covid update.

Covid update. 3 Years ago
Regular visitors will know that, from Day One, I blamed the over reaction to Covid on media hype - the quest for "a great story" and "experts" and governments obeying media on it. But I was also clear that this new strain of coronavirus could be lethal to some and was not properly being analysed because the extremes were being wrongly blindly accepted.

It's been interesting observing the changes on those over 50 in the past three years. My regular annual visits to my favourite pool in Rome has enabled me to see the changes. I've witnessed people in their mid 50s onwards get noticeably greyer, weaker and more stooped. Fit swimmers now, instead of appearing suntanned and toned, look elderly although they have not yet reached 60. Men and women of my age (77) now look 87.

I think it's the hidden effects of Covid which quietly attacks those present weaknesses in our bodies. The young cope easily. The older not so easily.

My doctor says "possibly". Let's wait and see.

An example I've mentioned before - getting pneumonia from a "mild cold" or mild bout of Covid (never knew which - stupid tests; why bother?) was something my body would NEVER have allowed two years ago.

Jury is out for me on this; caused by
covid or lockdowns or maybe a combination? To take your case how much swimming & sunshine vit D did you miss out on with lockdowns? - could be the reason for the change as much as anything else.

The nation was psychologically abused over 2 years, depression & anxiety up leads to more susceptibility to recurring colds and fatigue...

And I used to get a horrid, itchy heat rash about 6 weeks into a sun holiday. My old doctor tried everything and finally hit a successful treatment; if I started a course the first moment, it stopped the rash within hours. So successful was it that the first moments went away for years; coming back every 5 or 6, then going after Day One of the pills. But LAST year it took two days before going. This month (after 4 weeks in Morocco and 2 weeks in France and Italy) ir returned taking THREE days to start subsiding (fine now). I reckon Covid gets to buried weaknesses.

your pool experiences could be because younger folk aren't traveling.

## I see something similar on Bondi Beach..once packed with lithe gorgeous young bodies of both or all sexes. A reason to live here.

Now they seem bulkier and not particularly healthy..too many hormones in the food?.

Covid is rapidly spreading again in Oz..most people have stopper wearing masks (not me)

What is back with a fierce vengeance is Influenza..on hold for the last 3 years and now a particularly nasty strain according to my doctor. Plagues have been attacking us for aeons..there's probably just too many of us on the planet.

Is it my age? I struggle to see why people have children these days.

No loads of young here now - many many English (or Scottish looking at their pallor). No surprise about Flu (I always linked the two - Covid had too much similar). As long as you've had the jabs I wouldn't worry too much Hedda but do consider my point - existing (often dormant) past conditions may well flare up, surprising you.

An example of the several people who are at the pool every year - some are far younger than me. Two years ago we looked similar. Now?
