On BBC4 Today show - at last a balanced view? Nope. Who do they interview? A woman, of course. Hadley Freeman from The Guardian. Who, of course, supports Heard and not Depp. I really despair about media. I have no idea which of these ghastly people spoke the truth and who lied. To be honest I wouldn't want to know either of them. But neither would I want the stupid simplification of current society.

Interesting - so many women point out that one judge (UK) is more likely to be correct than several jurors (USA). Personally if I was either a Judge or a Juror I'd refuse to hear such rubbish, let alone decide on it. "There are bigger problems deserving my consideration, your honour", I'd say. Contempt of Court? Oh yes.

Worth checking this other thread - an American (male) expert was just interviewed on ITV and very clearly took the view that Heard had lied so often and so badly that any jury would have sided with Depp. Also pointed out that the UK "victory" was for The Sun, not for Heard.

I don't understand why the jury found that Depp had defamed Heard because his lawyer had said her claims were a hoax, when the jury found that she had defamed Depp and her claims were false.
The jury in Fairfax, Virginia, found that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard both defamed each other.
But it largely sided with Depp's side of the story, saying Heard had defamed her ex-husband with "false" statements about their relationship.
Heard won only one of her three counter-claims against Depp, because his lawyer gave a statement to the Daily Mail in 2020 calling her abuse allegations a hoax.

Depp (or rather this case) should put a check on the movement in recent years towards casual condemnation of men, while at the same time clearly being an unpleasant example of a man.
But if this case makes some pause and consider what actual evidence they have for allegations before making them, all to the good.
As for Depp & Heard I hope they get the professional help they both evidently need.
