TOPIC: If I were still a millionaire
#222392
If I were still a millionaire 1 Year, 10 Months ago
which sadly I'm not, due to Surrey Police, the legal system and an assortment of Amber Heard types, I'd hire a private plane to fly ten times the amount of asylum seekers into the UK than our ghastly government are shipping to Rwanda every time they do it. So, for example, 7 flown to Rwanda today? 70 brought legally into the UK on a safe flight (charging £1 each to illustrate I'm NOT a people smuggler making money). Come on Branson. I made you billions with Genesis - use some of those to help vulnerable people who (madly, in my opinion) want to live in this country.

If they are legal and law abiding I don't have an issue.

I have lived and worked abroad in USA, Canada, Latvia, Chile, Slovenia and I was a frequent tourist to South Africa and Argentina.

Despite its faults and terrible government, I do love England more than I do with my home country Ireland.

The big advantage is the usually efficient and free NHS in the UK. Compared to the HSE in Ireland which has to be paid for by the patent, and has hundreds of trollies with patents requiring attention on board every day. Not a good place to be ill.

Can't believe that this woman still hasn't made it to the UK (where she apparently has a sponsor). I remember seeing her interviewed ages ago.

Ukrainian widow: My baby and I were kidnapped

Viktoria and her baby have been waiting for nearly 50 days to get a UK visa.

Her husband and twelve-year-old daughter were killed by Russian shelling while fleeing Chernihiv.

She and her baby were kidnapped by Russian troops the following day and held in a basement for over three weeks, before they were freed and escaped to safety in Poland.

We don't much like hubcap jokes. Not because we object to stereotypes, indeed, I think as a city we excel at laughing at ourselves and at most situations, but the stereotype was very cruelly and deliberately used against us by police and media in the Hillsborough atrocity, and it is not easily forgotten.

Blame the media then !

I had my hubcaps stolen in Union City in New Jersey in a posh street. I still laugh about it because my car was untouched in The Bronx in rough street.

If I was offended by every Irish joke I would be a very rich man.

How would you become rich by being offended?

Because I could moan to Vox, Buzzfeed, maybe give interviews about the racist Irish insults aimed at the Irish in the 70s and 80s. We laughed about it then and we laugh about it now.

(we are not all bombers, thick, bar brawling yobs, and not all Irish Catholics are not knobbing their cousins)

I could write a book of offensive bar jokes. I could do a follow up of some offensive Irish jokes both volumes could be off the knuckle stuff.

Not every gypsy/traveller is a thief, wants to tarmac your driveway or steal from local shops when they move to a town near you.

My friend's and family can laugh.

The Irish have lampooned the English for years, blaming them for all their problems. Financial and otherwise.

Despite the fact the UK is one of their biggest trading partners, and make up the largest number of tourists to Ireland.

We have also provided work and assistance for Republic residents during many recessions, and still continue to do so.

I am both wounded and grateful.
