He will resign as Tory leader and over the next few months will meet leaders of the Lib Dems about becoming Leader (replacing the lisping useless Davey). Then he will call a General Election a few days before he has to go; will be announced as Leader of the Lib Dems (saying, naturally, they will rejoin the EU); will win the Election by a landslide (all the Remainer vote) and return as PM.
Quite amusing - just had a call from a top journalist friend saying "Why on earth hasn't any mainstream Editor spotted this?"... my answer? They will; this site has every single hack and Editor checking it twice a day. Wait'N'Watch.
Churchill entered Parliament as member for Oldham in 1900 as a Conservative. He changed parties in 1904 after increasing disagreement with the mainstream Conservative policy of protectionist tariffs preferentially favouring trade with the British Empire, joining the Liberals and winning the seat of Manchester North West.
Never underestimate the power of opportunism Wyot; I think the LibDems would take Satan if he was on offer. Boris will turn on a sixpence. Davey would (grudgingly) agree to Deputy PM if offered. Voters would vote for a Remain agenda. And many (like me) would swallow our loathing for Johnson if he pushed the fact that having a glass of wine every now and again and NOT firing someone for trying it on with a queen in a private club are bad reasons for not running the country properly. If he did it, I'd probably (clenched teeth) let him have my vote.
Who can call a General Election? Answer - the PM. Who is PM? Boris. So BBC and others - stop telling me the next Tory leader will be PM. Not necessarily.

I wonder if Boris will just hand the torch over to the next woman he fancies.
Very good analysis by Sarah Vine in today's Mail; though I'm not a fan of hers and anyone watching Love Island must be mentally impaired (I never have, I admit, so I could be wrong) but she has been close to Boris and seems to have got his number spot on. I see one of her close friends is Rachel, Boris' sister, who is lovely, charming, bright and honest.
So what will Boris do? We haven't seen the last of him. Will he join and head up the LibDems before the next election? Will he form a breakaway New Conservastives party? I wouldn't bet on No10 never seeing Boris again.
A theory that could very well happen as, as appalling as he is (liar) those who would replace him have as much charisma as a dead dog (Boris has slightly more).
Hilarious that so many ignorant pundits are saying as least you didn't get the other guy..Jeremy Corbyn who lives on in their heads.
