One of the best things that ever happened to me was being wrongly convicted and sent to prison for seven years. I learned so much and was able to make literally hundreds of unhappy men less miserable (I prevented dozens of suicides and actually got 12 appeals granted and released). Instead of becoming global chairman of EMI at £5million a year, it was less financially profitable (who needs it?) but FAR more satisfying. And it's why this post reads so true to me. I met the victims of our broken system. I spoke to them; heard them and often helped them. A much better career for my old age than recording Una Paloma Blanca for the masses.
