for those waiting to get on a ferry or plane or train - stuck for hours.
If you voted for Brexit - you deserve all you get. I hope you're stuck for days, not hours.
How DARE Brits blame the French for this??? We voted to leave the EU. We voted to reject Europe. We voted to have huge queues for stupid, racist, simple Brits trying to go abroad for holidays, to escape this vile country with its filthy weather and nast attitude. I'm in beautiful Antibes. I apologise to my many French friends for rude and stupid Brexit. I urge them not to even consider coming to Britain for holidays or anything else. Multiply my dozens of conversations by thousands as others finally get here and you'll understand the consequences of Brexit in a couple of years time.
So why did I start my summer holiday in March (Morocco)? Because I thought stupid Brexit would cause jams in July. Why did I then continue my summer break in April (through the tunnel in my car)? Because I suspected there would be jams taking a car across the channel in June or July. Why? Stupid Brexit. Why am I happily in Antibes on the French Riviera with my car this weekend? Because I have a brain (and thought Brexit was stupid).

But Mr King, you are not relying on pre-booked holidays from work that might not be conveniently timed, and nor do you have a very tight budget or children in school that you have to fit it all around.
A lot just go wherever they can afford, whenever they can.
I'm aware of that Honey; I'm in a privileged position; but it highlights how stupid Brexit was and how difficult it is for most people to deal with the consequences. I just hope some of those sweltering in a ten hour traffic jam who voted for Brexit realise what they have done.

These are among my favourite posts on this site Honey: when you pop up ocassionally to gently tick Mr King off.
Every time I've gone through French entry and said I hate stupid Brexit and hate having my passport stamped, every border official smiles and agrees. They think we have been mad and rude. And still media refuses to say that this traffic jam was the inevitable result of every entry now taking a couple of minutes as opposed to seconds.

I'm interested to know why you think media is refusing to go there JK?

Both Honey and Wyot can have a drink. Maybe it's just me but I have noticed that celebrities always live in their own world, they forget about peasants how peasants work and live.
MPs are the same also they are used to the high life even after office. I love staycations but its getting to expensive to do that. Especially during the Summer and everything closes for the Winter in the UK.
People need to stop going to France or Spain and visit the beautiful Baltic countries.
well said JK and I do not envy that you are in the position to travel abroad at times that suit you (do you take the Roller? )
The sad fact is the majority who voted for Brexit are the ones paying the price, who didn't have the foresight to realize they are the ones who all what to travel during the Summer months at the same time..now complaining the Bloody Frogs they ditched, should pull their fingers out and facilitate Brit's travel (Liz Truss )
There were many long queues for the ferries and the tunnel before Brexit ever happened. We used to go over monthly to our holiday home in France.
If it wasn't the French border force it was some form of industrial action. We have been held up by striking Sea France seamen, fishermen, and do not get me started on the joys of striking God knows who, blocking ports and roads in the vicinity, usually while the French Police ignored EU rules to keep routes open.
The first day of disruption the French only had four border posts open, and this at the start of the school holidays!
We gave up the second home, and now avoid going through France, Portugal let Brits in via their E-gates, as they did for us in Cyprus. The only thing that will work is for people just to avoid France, and hit them in their tourist pockets.

I think you’re still very lucky over in the UK as France, Italy, Spain etc are all so close and still quite convenient to get to.
Over here it’s so expensive to travel and accommodation prices are through the roof..
Green Man mentioned Staycations.. I’ve really got into Daycations..
going somewhere different for the morning and afternoon.. nice café’s and patisseries to enjoy coffee ☕️ cakes 🍰 and other delights.. and return home by mid/late afternoon.

I am doing those with my partner also whether it's a at the Dorset coast or the market towns in Hampshire. We love looking around junk shops together as I love to up-cycle stuff, lunch maybe a beverage then home. I did find a beautiful deer head that's now in my hallway. It's next to one my partner accidentally hit my truck with.
