New Movie idea for Revolution Films 2 Years, 10 Months ago
I'm fascinated by the British record label UK Records era... hit singles by faceless artist /band names and selling millions..

JK this would make a great movie .. the golden era of the UK Singles Business..

I love that idea. One of my sisters was obsessed with the bubblegum gum music that JK produced. It would be good to have a face to the names and who the session musicians were.

I like to have a see a short film how JK made the first Genesis album and early Bay City Rollers records.

Genesis first though.

Agree with you Green Man, it was a wonderful time in the British pop business and I was always intrigued with these singles coming out with names like
One Hundred Ton and a Feather, Sakkarin, Weathermen, Nemo, Shag, Bubblerock, Sound 9418 etc..

I don't thing any other country had such a vibrant and financially rewarding 7" vinyl singles business as the UK did.

And being such a small country in size but with a huge population.. getting stock distributed and into shops was a lot cheaper and faster than places like
the US and Australia.

Also, the radio and TV media in Britain was very limited which meant if you got airplay on Radio One and appeared on Top of the Pops then it was almost a sure fire bet that you'd have a hit..

I did ignore singles sadly, I was more an album guy and still am. However if I see a 45 record that I like I will buy it. I didn't bother with 12inch singles either they were near the same price as the album.
