Why? Brexit, of course. "We don't want you" we said as a nation to the thousands of Spanish, Italian, French, Germans and Portuguese.
"Oh well, we'll go home" said the Doctors and Nurses. And they did.

No because the pay is crap and it's stressful job. You can near the same salary working in a supermarket than for the NHS.
It is down to Brexit AND crap pay and conditions for nurses and midwives.
Many staff were told they were not welcome (because foreign) and left. Which made the conditions worse for remaining staff, who go off ill with stress, further increasing pressure on the remaining staff.
Meanwhile, for years, our hapless indifferent Government has failed to invest or train in new staff.
But at least the Brexiteers, as their fat tattood bodies are colonised by sepsis, can now gaze at their smartphones for twelve hours in A&E unmolested by caring foreign voices...
When I watch this all I hear is Macron saying that seeing the world in binary terms - US or China - for or against- is a mistake. He says this is two orders and we need one order.
Why do they make so much of the word "order" he uses in the video? He seems to just be saying that the world would be better off if we united rather than carried on with division.
If that is what "New World Order" means, then bring it on I say. Closer trade and Co operation has for centuries kept war at bay. Not always successfully, obviously, but in large measure.
I understand that people see European or Global governance as a threat to localised democracies, and they are. But this presupposes this is necessarily a bad thing.

Give it a couple of more years' time the Western world will be more submissive to China. We need their good, labour and trade. We will need components for electric cars and AI. Solar panels and wind turbines are manufactured from China.
