TOPIC: Booker 2022 finalists
#226086
Booker 2022 finalists 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Two more finished - GLORY (didn't like it at all; gave up 100 pages in; very irritating style) and THE TREES (my favourite so far - strangely mass appeal for a Booker finalist; eminently readable). One more to go before the winner announced next month which, I suspect, will be Oh William.

The only one I have read so far is Claire Keegan which I thought was brilliantly done. But her work rate is not to be admired - 3 or 4 books in a couple of decades.

500 words a day (an hours work) and with prep & editing time you have a steady book a year! Anthony Trollope wrote 2000 words a day before breakfast. This country has gone to the dogs...

I loved the Keegan but not quite as much as Oh William which I think will win. The Trees is incredibly readable - almost a page turner like Dan Brown but far better written. Not a hope of winning the Booker though (I was astonished it made the shortlist, though delighted it did). I suspect many "critics" will go for the Treacle Walker which I hated though it is mercifully short. Worzel Gummidge may get it.
