The trouble with the Government NOT increasing benefits (as opposed to Labour who, in opposition, can say what they like) is that many claiming benefits - like many false accusers - are lying and the media supports this as it's a better story. Attack liars and they know the media will support them. "People lie to get extra benefits" is NOT a good headline for the vast majority of brain dead simplistic punters. Neither is "The Vast Majority of sex accusers are lying or exaggerating". Although we all (with brains) know it is true in both cases.
