A terrific show today (when Doctors is good it's really good) about Coercive Control. I met so many similar inmates in prison (clearly MEN in my case) and it really reflects many of the cases I heard.
Do watch this 2 parter - it really is VERY accurate. My inmates were Not Guilty of different crimes (including murder) and I managed to help 12 get appeals and freed. That was only in three prisons in my 3.5 years inside (first parole granted - they were keen to release me).
I remember in my first week in HMP Belmarsh an officer shouted at me in front of dozens of other inmates "Why are you always happy, King? You're in prison. You're meant to be miserable".
"I would be if I had to work here" I replied. It brought the house down (to be fair, including the officer, who laughed and shook my hand).
