OK Now finished all six with The Seven Moons which I didn't like at all; as with GLORY, I gave up after 100 pages. I often don't like the writing style of Asian writers (Rushdie a prime example - I literally cannot read a page). Not always - I loved The God Of Small Things, White Tiger and several others.
So my least favourites were those two and TREACLE WALKER (the favourite) which I thought was rubbish.
My top three...
at 3 - Claire Keegan - Small Things - terrific; I loved it.
at 2 - Trees by Percival Everett - my personal favourite read; couldn't put it down; but not a hope of winning (too populist).
and the winner is...
OH WILLIAM by Elizabeth Strout - fabulous.
Thank you Booker for my annual novel read which I always thoroughly enjoy every September.
Now let's see on October 17th whether the Judges and I agree.
