Is Rolf Harris gravely ill?

According to media reports, he is, e.g. Unable to speak and fed by tubes: Rolf Harris' sorry life is revealed as the convicted paedophile is put 'under 24hr care' while battling neck cancer - and what sparked his sudden downturn

According to a relative, he isn't:

"Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you know that the recent "news" articles about Rolf being "gravely ill, depressed and battling cancer" are untrue. He had throat cancer but is in remission (yay!). He is receiving nutrients via a tube, but this is normal for someone in recovery. In general, he is in high spirits and happy. But the "news" is everywhere, and it's hard to combat. The hate and vitriol of people at the moment, it's just terribly sad."

Did the defence in his first trial fail to object to the presence of a Met police officer on the jury and did the judge refuse to remove him from the jury?

According to Mark Williams-Thomas, the defence failed to object:

"Full facts being that the defence fully knew this and did not object to them being on the jury."

According to Mark Williams-Thomas, the judge did not refuse to remove the Met police officer from the jury.

According to the judge's own words, the defence did object:

"During the jury process I explained to the potential jurors that it was an essential part of a fair trial that the jurors had no connection with the case, whether direct or indirect. The first question was: do you have any connection with this case, or with anyone who is involved in it. None of the now jurors answered in the affirmative. The jury were sworn in on May 8 May 2014. At that time I was not informed, as I should have been, that Juror no. 8 was a serving police officer. On 19 May 2014, after the court had risen, I learned from the court staff that Juror No. 8, a male who appeared to be in his late 20's, was a serving officer in the Metropolitan Police. On 20 May 2014 I sat early and raised with the parties the issues in relation to the juror. I then gave the parties time to consider those issues. The Defence sought the discharge of Juror No. 8, to which the Prosecution objected. It was submitted that Operation Yewtree was a very high profile investigation that had received well publicised criticism in the media, and that there remained a risk, in the particular circumstances of this case, that a serving officer might, even subconsciously, be motivated to protect the reputation of the Metropolitan Police."

But it seems that the Met officer was not removed from the jury despite having failed to disclose that he was a Met officer, therefore the judge must have refused to remove him.

William Merritt has given an interview about his book on the Rolf Harris trials to a veteran Australian journalist in New Zealand. Sadly, the UK media seem to be disinterested, preferring to continue their "Rolf the paedo" stories.

While it is technically correct that Rolf Harris is a "convicted paedophile" only a low minded wretch would use it to describe someone they know damned well was later cleared of those charges.
