Dear Mark Rowley,

I’ve written to you before but assume you’ve either not had my letters or have chosen not to reply to them.

Great move setting up a “deal with 600 bent cops” squad but someone needs to tell you -
the vast majority of those complaints will be either totally false or exaggerations.

The False Allegations Industry is bigger than ever.

The problem you have is the few officers who step over the line - making sure they get a conviction even when they find evidence that the accuser is lying. They become ENABLERS.

That is the real crime. Just as False Accusations are SO much more common than corruption.

I understand that’s difficult to sell to the media which, after all, is the only thing most police and politicians care about.
But a decent, brave CC would do that.

Secondly, officers are trained to feel they can do ANYTHING and bosses will back them up.

That has to be corrected.

Good luck.

Jonathan King.

I think the vast majority of officers who collude in the False Allegations Industry are trying to do right but are easily swayed by seniors who keep insisting they find "evidence" of guilt in the accused. One officer at Surrey Police kept telling me, in interviews, they were totally committed to finding the truth yet he knew, clearly, I was innocent. His boss was kicked out of the force (on full pension) and has now married one of her juniors on the team (so at least my "debacle" brought romance to somewhere) and is now selling aromatherapy oils. Her boss has been promoted, is still with Surrey Police and even tried to sue me for my Not A Knee On The Neck exposure of her behaviour (I had to agree not to reprint the book in order for her lawyers to drop all her false allegations). She is, I believe, typical of many cops who are bright and cunning enough to escape censure and to rise up the slippery pole of police promotion. And she is a great example of how the very top bosses shelter and protect officers. If Wayne Couzens had acquired the abilities needed, he would not only be a senior officer today but, quite possibly, in one of the top jobs. The art of "cover your arse" is an easily learned skill. And he would "only" have raped Sarah, not killed her. And he would have denied any allegations (if questioned) as he did with those exposure claims. And would have been exonerated (and probably promoted).

EXAMPLE (not in any way reflecting any actual crimes)... if - as a senior officer - you realise the actions of your team will reflect badly on you and may even cause damage to your career; if a trial is thrown out and a retrial planned; if you know you cannot afford to commit perjury in the witness box; have a "total breakdown"; make sure a doctor states you are unable to attend or give evidence in future trials for months or even years; send an even more senior officer (conveniently about to retire) to tell the Judge this; and provoke a situation where the Judge refuses to allow any retrials so the process is over.

You can then return to work a few weeks later on full pay, get given a promotion and continue to rise up that slippery pole of promotion until you reach the very top.

And then your main duty becomes to "protect your officers". Even if, in doing so, your real intention is to get positive media coverage and still allow bent and corrupt cops who are cunning enough, to "get away with it".

Of course the problem with SOCIAL MEDIA is that (along with the numerous, massive negatives) there are some sites and observers who can see, experience and carry the truth.

This site - online since the 1990s - gets thousands of views for every thread and every post every day.
