TOPIC: I'm a fighter; not a quitter
#226699
I'm a fighter; not a quitter 2 Years, 8 Months ago
She certainly is - that's how she got to be PM.
She's also very nearly brain dead and completely unable to be a decent Prime Minister.
Sorry Liz - one doesn't justify the other.
By not quitting you are damaging the country.
By doing so you are putting yourself in great danger.
If you won't resign and throw the weight of the entire party behind one candidate, the consequences could be catastrophic; not just for the country.
As I'm sure millions are now thinking - there are many ways to remove a person from office.
We must all hope - for your sake - you don't become the victim of allegations.

Ah Suella explains - she made a slight mistake (huge breach of security rules) so she resigns. How noble and loyal. A pity she goes on to say Liz Truss is mad and the Government is collapsing and she ought to be PM... ooops, not an accurate report of her resignation letter. Read it for yourself. And see if you agree that her role as Brutus deserves condemnation - no matter what you think of the loony in No10.

My money is on Suella having quite deliberately engineered the whole thing, in order to distance herself from Truss and reposition herself...

Since nobody cares about Home Sec; Chancellor; Foreign etc Truss is constantly bunged into these positions by various PM's who don't care either.
Few noticed her lunacy - but some did (letter to The Times from top judges; the Rwanda silliness etc).
Most MPs saw how useless she was but the system allowed her to get into final two.
Tory members only saw her do soundbites and spout policy rubbish.
Now everyone can see she's completely brain dead.
She must be dumped. But who will replace her?

I think what we may be seeing is the failure of democracy in a total media age.

The push to give the say to "the people" over much derided experts is fatal.

First we had Brexit itself; where some ideological political and media amateurs poured scorn on all the experts warning it would be an act of self-harm. The people were persuaded, and we inflicted self harm.

Now Truss: the "experts" on her were those in the parliamentary Conservative party who knew she was utterly incapable. But the vote was given to "the people" (a few thousand payed up Tories), and look at the self harm inflicted just through her short disastrous reign.

We need a new system. Or we can carry on congratulating ourselves that we are being "democratic", while outcome after outcome should be teaching us a lesson.

People are just too easily manipulated by media, presentation and soundbite. The idea most people are making "decisions" at all is debatable.
