Re:The good news about Rishi 2 Years, 8 Months ago
General Election. Why would we want one, let alone the Tories? Sunak is not going to want to risk losing the job he wanted and got so easily (Truss was walking car crash and most could see it coming a mile away). No other party has anyone we'd want as PM more than this lot. But the fact that all the stupid Opposition are bleating for this is the most indicative of brain death in our elected dimwits. It will not happen. There is nobody else deserving the top job. This guy is ambitious, young, a snake (snakes tend to survive), wealthy. Good luck to him.

The reason I'm delighted by the two facts is that neither caused or is part of his getting the job. Both irrelevant - being Asian and young played no part in him becoming PM. Whether he'll be good or bad is another question but it's terrific than anybody - disabled - gay - chinese - atheist - can become PM. Let's now hope he's good at his job. If he IS we'll see him as PM for decades.

OK Rishi - off you go. A good if bland and unoriginal speech; he doesn't have the ability or charisma of Boris but he's a million miles better than Truss (not difficult) and better than the cold and blinkered May. Most vitally - seems streets ahead of Starmer. Now let's see how the next two months unfold.

Have to disagree that the cabinet looks good other than Braverman. Schapps hardly covered himself in glory at transport, Raab was appalling at his last stint at Justice, refused to speak to the bar who went on strike, and has made parole so much harder for prisoners to get. Then there is that Brexit-lying chinless wonder Gove, who keeps surfacing like a stubborn turd. It looks awful to me.
