TOPIC: Lovely lunch with Gambo and Fry
#226981
Lovely lunch with Gambo and Fry 2 Years, 7 Months ago
We have a catchup every few months (Covid permitting). Always both entertaining and informative. This time especially as my new novel (out in 2 weeks) is dedicated to Stephen. Delicious meal (I had smoked salmon and liver and onions). Much amazing gossip, one story of which converted both Stephen and I that Sunak could be a decent PM.

Disappointed JK, Gambo is part of the problem, well ours anyway.

I understand and forgive very easily Amanda - nobody is perfect.

Same here, I'd like to forgive him IF he saw fit to apologise. Remember I have to face such horror because of what he stated as fact. If it was a "mistake" he made, then SAY SO!

I'm deeply hurt, it's been 10 years and the hurt continues.

Spent the summer in Spain and twice had to fend off necrophilia accusations. One said "well Gambacinni must know, he knew him, no smoke without fire"

Forgiveness is easier if his lies aren't thrown in your face on almost a monthly basis.

He's looking for everyone to believe the media lied about him but he doesn't give me the same courtesy.

I warned him at the time that Karma might arrive and it did.
He still cannot see that there is no reason why people who believed the media coverage of SJS should not believe the false allegations made against Gambo.
His eyes glaze over.
Unless we're directly concerned, very few of us have the time or inclination to think about these (to them) unimportant things.
Look at another thread concerning Gary Glitter.
Do I think that even if I am declared totally Not Guilty of past false allegations (as I have been several times more recently) more than 5% will change their opinion about me?
No I don't. Nor should I.
Nobody has the time or inclination to think about this silly old queen other than friends, supporters and family.

I guess there we have it. No accountability including "glazed eyes". Meanwhile a normal person like me who through an accident of birth was thrown into "Savilisation" & totally unequipped for any of this and unable, like you JK to speak to the likes of Gambacinni, us left at sea.

Meanwhile I'll continue to attempt to shake off unspeakable accusations on my own.

Let any of your readers try dealing with this from complete strangers and it not destroy you bit by bit.

All I have to say when chatting in a pub is that I'm from Leeds and then the onslaught begins. Sometimes I stay quiet when the SJS slander starts but NEVER when the subject of necrophilia comes up.

At least if he was man enough to admit his mistake and apologise, I could at least have a come back when asked "where did these rumours come from?"

Just saying you're from Leeds sets people off? That's incredible. I'm sorry you're having to deal with all the fallout. It must be very difficult.

Here's a discussion about Gambaccini from 2009: forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/1024369...plot-in-recent-years

I have a couple of books by people who've been falsely accused, including JK, and thought about getting Gambaccini's but the previews on Amazon put me off. The first few pages seemed a bit long-winded and self-indulgent.

not sure anyone could have predicted what would happen with Gambo but he has my full sympathy.

No-one should have been treated like he was..shocking.

Goes for Cliff as well (National Treasure) and that Tory politician.
