TOPIC: Climate Change

Climate Change 2 Years, 7 Months ago
I've not opined on this as I'm really totally uninformed. As indeed are most "experts" including the Swedish bint with a face like the back of a spoon.
But my instincts are that change is inevitable as the sun dies.
I suspect planets like Neptune and Jupiter were inhabited just like Earth billions of years ago. And Venus and Mercury will develop like Earth as billions go by.
And Earth will slowly freeze as the sun fades.
And that Climate Change is inevitable and any changes we humans make are as cosmetic as a band aid. Anyone remember Band Aid?
Like hyped charities, superficial campaigns and crusades tend to do very little good and often cause greater harm as Live Aid did.
Millions more died because Live Aid syphoned off monies from better organised charities like Oxfam.
And put the monies into the pockets of corrupt officials.

So what should we do about inevitable Climate Change?
Adapt to avoid the worst consequences.
Move populations away from potential flood areas.
Increase defences.
Develop practical ways to do without dying fuel systems (I love the Sun Farms in Morocco).

So I think ADAPT is the crucial thing and don't waste energy and cash trying to correct things that won't make much difference anyway.

The and Ireland is too fucking small for all that and have zero infrastructure. There's no room to move the population unless farmers are forced to sell up. Oh, wait!

Not many like the spoon-faced annoying young lady; but she's played a significant role in increasing awareness of the monumental problem.

It's fine for us - because we won't be around when people are dying. Lucky some (Fleming/penicillin etc.) had the future in their minds.

Another stupid post Barney; of course those of us who may be dead when the Final Climate Change solution kicks in but that doesn't stop us wanting future generations to survive - by ADAPTING, not by urging people to eat less meat and stop milking cows.

I think a reasonable challenge to your position JK is:

1. Will the adaptations work?

2. Given how the world has always operated in terms of wealth distribution the wealthy nations (that won't include UK way we are going!) will adapt but billions in the "developing" world will perish.

However, I agree buying up all the forms and re-wilding sounds unrealistic...

Answers WYOT - some adaptations will work - some won't.

Wealthy countries? We already give loads of financial aid to the poorer countries but often (as with stupid Live Aid) the money goes into the pockets of corrupt officials and not to well run, decent charities like OXFAM. Those funds should be better channelled and used to adapt. If a tiny percentage of the wasted cash was correctly directed towards improving like for the Rohingyas, for example, the world would be a better place.

Anybody flying low over any country sees the vast majority of the world is uninhabited by humans. Develop them. Use them. ADAPT.

EXAMPLE - use the desert (Sahara) to get energy - MOROCCO is not meant to be a wealthy country but those who know and love it (like I do) are aware of great sense there... see pic www.kingofhits.co.uk/component/option,co...,64/?g2_itemId=14166

Just remember that some people hate you or wants to cause harm to others for no reason. The government wants people to house immigrants without a proper background check, cuckooing comes to mind. This is where people use your property for drug dealing.

Should Rishi go to Egypt? No; far more pressing problems at home. Should Charles? No; he's now King. Should William? Yes; he's the Prince of Wales and his presence would be significant.

But I make the point again. Climate change is 99.9% down to nature (and the death of the sun). Human "changes" will make 0.001% difference. Instead concentrate time, effort and money protecting and anticipating and ADAPTING.

With some sensible planning those hot regions could be transformed by solar energy.
This stupid fixation with targets and global warming has left us dependant on Putin and lost jobs galore to other countries who don't care about emissions.
Yes adapt to the situation, pointless in trying to beat nature.

Why do these climate activists have insane looking eyes and soulless voices?

I couldn't do my job on public transport, how am I going to carry cases and creates of beer, wine and liquor to establishments? Also my routes don't have much public transport. I live in the sticks and I love it.

What the silly woman didn't mention about Pakistan flooding is their boom in population and infrastructure on unsuitable locations. You don't build on flood plains for fuck sake. Make me environmental secretary.

2 grumpy colleagues attended a morning meeting late yesterday having had to add an extra 40 mins each to their car journeys avoiding junction 14 of the M25; where some excitable individuals had glued themselves to a projectile.

They both pointed out that as a result they had caused more pollution to the planet than if the protestors had stayed tucked up in bed watching mind numbing daytime TV...

How long, though, before Police receive instructions to haul protestors away even if this means leaving a gluey hand decorating a motorway bridge?

Majority anger (or fear - see Covid or foreigners with Brexit) will always win with politicians.

Positive maybe in this case; but mostly negative for society.

I thought he said he would nuke it.

By now the planet would of been destroyed due to the ozone layer being destroyed they said this in the 80's.

Once upon a time the North Pole was tropical paradise. The planet has changed and evolved for billions of year's. It was also a clump of molten rock and once nothing.

Also was asteroid that crash landed in to Earth that killed dinosaurs man made.
