And I spent no time being "nice" about it given the piss they had taken, protestations about having children to feed notwithstanding (somehow trying to transfer responsibility for that from them onto me was not likely ever to bring out my inner Bhudda... )

There doesn't seem anything malicious about "Barney" to me when he does this. He just seems pathetic, in the literal sense.

I feel no anger or even irritation, waste of energy.

As even I am not Jesus Christ I will stop short of feeling love for him; but I hope he gets to a happier place.

Firing people is tough. I did sack a barman for being late all the time despite living nearby (20 min walk).


I did give him several warnings, then sacked him on the spot when he blew his final chance.


I have fired staff who mimicked other staff. I always tried to be an equal opportunities employer. I have shuffled staff around, which has been successful and unsuccessful. I always paid everyone equal. I have hired barstaff with fancy degrees and initials they got from university.

Apart from the chef's and supervisors, who got a tad more. Yes some of these were female employees.

Well said, Wyot. I am not convinced it is not malicious though. His last impersonation right before I flipped my lid and stopped posting seemed stalkerish.

Also, he has previously outed ITK, continuously tormenting him by giving away his precise location (this was right before HE stopped posting) and also that nice chap "Tim somebody" etc etc.


So while I have full sympathy, knowing that someone who does this must be desperately unhappy, it is not an excuse and I am not prepared to go along with it. (especially as he is probably doing something unspeakable to himself with glee under the desk as he fools us)

I tend to agree with you Honey. I'm far from convinced "Barney" is simply stupid. Nobody without malice would keep returning, trying to stop genuine posters.

I have always thought there was malice in his behaviour and never thought he was stupid; but for some reason pretending to be in order to wind people up, which seems to be his only purpose on here.

People full of malice and bitterness are never happy; so I hope he becomes happier for himself, and those around him.

I doubt he is easy to be around in the real as well as virtual world.

That said, thanks for the heads up re how far he will go if able. That is concerning (ITK). And I do seem to get the most imitative attention from him. I must admit I didn't really notice the particular "stalkerish" Honey post, but have missed your contributions these past couple of weeks.

I have, though, noticed in the past slightly stalkerish posts re our host, claiming to have stayed in the same hotels or nearby in Morocco etc.

I was concerned last year that my Covid deep insights/rants could be deterring posters, but I suspect 90% is down to Barney.

Apart from his posts being so boring, no one can be sure who they are dealing with anymore when anyone who may be new posts.

I suspect this brings him pleasure, but don't like to dwell too much on what his hands under the desk may be doing...
