I have to say I almost don't care how the rest of the series goes. The brilliance of the England side against Iran was just a joy to watch. Whatever happens from now on is less important than it was because we've seen a truly superb performance by the English squad. WOW!

Total agree - but this young man looks our best prospect for years.

Mature beyond his years (19), and already playing for Dortmund.

In the pre-match interview, he came across as a level headed and well adjusted chap.

And his headed goal (our first) was simply World class - a glancing header.

I have to say I thought Wales were awful - nowhere near as good as the USA (who weren't great either). Apart from Gareth Bale who, as is often the case, saved the day. At the moment I'm hoping for England and Iran to win this group (Iran because of the very classy silent protest - SOOO much more effective than stupid rainbow armbands). And I do love Persia. In truth I must support Wales but watching almost every pass go to the USA I despaired.

I assume that you only watched the first half, where they were awful. In the second half they were much better, having most of the possession and Keifer Moore almost scoring with a header. Next time Wales (or Cymru as they may soon be known), turn up in the first half.
