Happy Birthday to me!
78 today.
60 years ago I was off around the world having failed my scholarship exam to Trinity College Cambridge University but given a place there as the top failure - a habit that has chased me my entire life.
Always just missing out at the top.
Discovering, naming, producing or creating Genesis, Abba, 10cc, the Bay City Rollers and the Rocky Horror Show was all very fine and quite lucrative but they weren’t The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. Hit songs like Everyone’s Gone To The Moon, It’s Good News Week and Johnny Reggae sold millions but they weren’t I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing (as my friend Roger Greenaway often reminds me). The world DID sing Una Paloma Blanca and The Sun Has Got His Hat on and I sang on 40 million selling tracks but under a variety of names so I’ve never quite been Elvis Presley.
And even though my TV shows got millions more viewers than most current hits, I’m not considered quite as successful as Simon Cowell.
So here I am, dedicated to make THIS decade my most successful yet.

I am little confused with your connection with ABBA was it producing you did or being their publisher?

Didn't you only produce early BCR singles a few years before Roller Mania was a thing?

The point is, Greenman, that you cant make chips unless somebody provides the spuds.

Nicely put Honey and yes, Green Man, I only produced (and sang on) the first BCR hit - always ahead of things, that was my problem. And all I did with Abba was pick the singles (my opinion) from the Demos.

Thank you for clearing that up. I found so much conflicting disinformation about you and ABBA.
