This must be the best World Cup of all time; game after game of fabulously exciting football. Loved the second Dutch goal.

Really - so many terrific games. I do think an Argentina - England final could be fabulous but what if little Morocco makes the final? Against tiny Croatia? It's really wonderful TV.

Despite my initial high-minded humanitarian objections! I am now bloody glued to it. I thought it would be a damp squib; but how wrong.

Very open, constant surprises, great games.

I think the best world cup that I remember was 1978. The ticker tape parade greeting Argentina as they beat Holland in the final, and Archie Gemmel's amazing goal in beating Holland, yet still they didn't get through to the next round, and England didn't even qualify for the second world cup running.

Part of me wants France to win, just to stop all this jingoistic rubbish, with the sun doing their stupid "Lets make the French toast" headline. I'd like to see Argentina win as it would be a fitting end to Messi's career, one of the finest players ever.

If England aren't destined I would also like to see Argentina win, for the same reason. He deserves to win just for that pass against Netherlands! Out of this world.
