TOPIC: Morocco tonight
#228546
Morocco tonight 2 Years, 6 Months ago
I think one reason why the whole world (except France) wants Morocco to win is that they personify all the good things about football; teamwork (no stars), good humour (no divas), great fans (how about those Mums?) and a smiling, joyful, happy attitude. Fingers crossed we go all the way tonight AND Sunday.

Moroccans won't have forgotten that France ended its thousand years of independence. And that French Morocco only ceased to exist in 1956.

From just before WWI, Morocco was ruled from Paris - which, unsuccessfully, attempted to impose its culture and customs.

Even now France attempts to impose its will on the country, where many of the key influencers are French - or of French decent.

Another dimension for this intriguing World Cup tie is this resultant rivalry. Of those in the Moroccan squad, about six play in French leagues.

My head tells me that France will win, but if that is the case Morrocco can be proud of what they have done to be the first African and Arab nation to get to the World cup semi-final. They should get an open top bus through Rabat and not beat themselves up about it and have endless analysis of why they didn't win, like England would do.

Totally agree and would love to see Morocco in the final; but I want to see Messi lift the world cup!

Any other year or player I would go for Morocco.

I think this will be where most of the neutrals will be on Sunday - Lionel lift that trophy!

And surely the Moroccan goalie (Bono?) has to be the Man of the Tournament.

There's very few better. He made the 21/22 Team of the Year for La Liga where he plays in Spain - for Seville.

And won both the UEFA Europa and Super Cups. Could well win the Golden Glove award, for best goalkeeper.

Well now we hope for Bronze and considering their team was decimated by injury - imagine England without Kane, Saka, Rashford...
