Thank you PRS 2 Years, 6 Months ago
for the first of your massively increased payments (the second comes next week from streaming - Spotify etc). New accounting, increased payments (due to be £155 million). Much appreciated.

I thought there must be a small dot on my phone screen between the 1 and 55 that I couldn't see without my reading glasses...

£155 million!

My understanding was that you only got about 1p for every 1000 plays or something and there was no money in streaming, that why artists have to tour all the time, except for Elton, Sheeran, and a few others.

You are so right Robbie.

I was asked to see KISS next year by a friend. I am not going the tickets are more than my diesel usage. If I have few a drinks I have to pay for hotel which aren't cheap either. A one night stay in a "budget" hotel is over a £100.

It's getting more expensive to see bands live, it's getting to the point if it's worth it.

15 years ago the most expensive gig I went to was Clannad at £33, now Fairport Convention tickets are that price...about 6 years ago at the same venue I paid about £18 or so.

Yes I agree the concert prices are ridiculous, particularly the big outdoor concerts. For Duran Duran or Adele gig in Hyde Park you're looking at about £80 just to get into the park, then there are tiers of pricing, with tickets anywhere near the stage you are paying £200+ pounds. In the 60s The Stones played hyde park for free, now you have to bay £100s to see them, and most people will just be watching screens.

My theory is the prices (which I agree are ridiculous) will be forced down in time.

It is not kids paying hundreds to see the Stones in Hyde Park - but middle aged and older. We are on a steep downward trajectory economically as a nation now and about to enter, we are told, a major recession.

As the dad's worry about their businesses and getting laid off, they will stop paying - and the kids will never be able to pay these prices, because they will never be as well off as the pot-bellied jeans-wearing Dads grooving to Jumpin' Jack.

The big acts will be fine - just by pass "Broke Island" entirely and play elsewhere.

All part of our steady decline as a nation. As demonstrated by Brexit suicide, and figuratively by the passing of QE2, and the internecine infantile squabbling of her vulgar grandchildren.

Similar then to football tickets.

A good seat will cost over £100.

For an Arsenal game - Premier League.

West End shows command a similar price.

People will pay a premium for live entertainment.

I negotiated for ages to manage KISS's UK affairs (weren't that big in the UK) before it fell apart.

I would of course have given everyone complimentary tickets.

I organised a couple of pressers for them..that tongue !!

I did look in to tickets at all three venues they are playing £130 average including fees.

If I need need to stay overnight because I don't drink and drive. Its £120 to £200 for a hotel room for one effing night. Then there's food to buy. (type 1 diabetes)

I remember when 'nose bleed seats' were about £30 with fees and in arenas.

Even merchandise is getting out of hand. T shirts are now in the £30 bracket and hoodies are £50+. I saw Justin Hayward, earlier in the year the merch was well priced.

Double CD and a Moody Blues baseball cap for driving in was a total £10.

Steve Hackett, seems to live off his autograph at the merchandise stand.
