Unbelievable, everyone says. But wait for 2026; North America; 64 teams; 3 countries.

Yes, very possible. But North America is already preparing with FIFA; unlike other World Cup Finals, the entire infrastructure is in situ. No stadiums have to be built, for example.

The 2026 World Cup in numbers

The USA is particularly keen to include China in the tournament - after seeing how the Arab world became totally focused on Qatar.
Football is very popular in China - with most European leagues - including the EPL - being shown live on Chinese screens. Over 70,000 pitches have been developed and there's 25,000 soccer schools.
However the Chinese national team only appeared at one World Cup Finals - twenty years ago. Slow progress compared to other Asian nations - such as Japan and South Korea.
Undoubtedly, the USA's desire to host China (on North American soil) has political dimensions - but this sport is a global and unique phenomenon, which can (and has) bring nations closer.
