Ship building, coal mining and steel production were lost. Newcastle United has now become pivotal to the lives of the many unemployed.

Only about 15 months ago, the club was bought by Saudi Arabia who have created the change in fortunes - with the availability of funds.

Manchester United and Liverpool are both on the market and it'll be interesting to see whether nation states will buy again. Like ManCity, PSG etc.

I don't know how a rich Arab buying a football club will bring back Geordie industries? If own on the bottle Barney to cure boredom please seek help.
