As Eurovision starts getting hyped (Liverpool in May) almost everyone gets dragged into the pre-event hype but you might have noticed - the man who ran it for the BBC when we won it in 1997 is missing. Under normal circumstances Jonathan King would be pontificating all over the place. Wonder why he isn't.
I often think that glorious moment in Making Your Mind Up when the boys rip off the girls' skirts sums up the joy and innocence of Eurovision compared to the grim, woke, miserable world of today. You would never get away with it in 2023.
What diid Eurovision 2022 teach us? That the music professionals (the juries) took the musical part seriously but the punters (public vote) fell for the media hype. Ukraine should never have won. The UK should have done. This reflects life in general amongst humanity. The majority are stupid and will fall for slogans, tabloid headlines, simplification. It applies to everything - across the board. Strikes? Stupid. Covid? Stupid. Over reaction to Covid? Stupid. Brexit? Stupid. It never ends.
