Celebrities are usually more vulnerable than others

The media isn't interested in Joe Blogs - just those on telly

Mainly the high-profile successful ones, who don't hide

Still not back in training with Man Utd until an internal investigation had been carried out.
Not a nice character to be sure, but it would appear he was picked on because he was another star name for the force to bag.

How have you come to the conclusion he is not a nice character for sure, other than him being in your view another star name for the for the force to bag?

A point I was intending to make WYOT. It's frightening how easily we are persuaded by the media without realising it. I've never met the man and have no idea whether he's nice or nasty.

If he has proven innocent in by a court. What's the issue of putting him on the field? If fans are annoyed let them be annoyed. Football fans are backwards and neanderthals any way.

Some people are never happy, some will never believe a not guilty verdict especially if they don't like the individual.

If Manchester United are bowing to the #Metoo over this, then football I'd more demented than I thought.

Have you heard the audio tape of him talking to his girlfriend?

No I haven't. I take it he is unpleasant in it? I don't suppose, though, any of us would like to be judged forever and in total based on the worst things we have ever said...

That's part of the problem in cases like this - he has not been able to prove he is innocent. Witnesses pulled out and there was no trial.

Also, even if there was a trial he can't prove his "innocence", just that he was not proven guilty. That is why anyone who makes false claims is committing a very terrible wrong; it casts a shadow over lives, whatever the truth.

It takes part of who people are away, although I imagine how one responds in that situation is also very important in this.

As for football of course he should be able to resume his career. He should also be able to if he was guilty and served time. But, like everything else now, football is politicised.

Before you come to any conclusions search this out on the net. I would normally agree with you, but in this case I think Man Utd will quite likely get backlash for playing him when his nastiness is in the public domain.

What conclusions do you imagine I am in danger of coming to, or wish to come to? Why would I want - or attempt - to conclude anything about a man I don't know, know nothing about from any reliable source, or have any interest in?

So the trail was quashed? Why did witnesses pull out, were they wasting police time?

I am very wary of how the false allegations industry works having been an attempted victim. I am also very wary of coming to any conclusions without at least trying to view all available evidence.
Each to their own, have a nice day.

How can I possibly know GM? Although I notice that many thousands on Twitter are apparently in a more privileged position than myself...

You too Backintheday - and great to have what I think is a new (or old new?) voice contributing.

(Although if you are "Barney" I may with regret retire!!!)

Not Barney whoever he is, was on here ten or more years back. Work commitments mean I visit this place only occasionally, and possibly won't post again for a few more years.

I suspected you weren't "Barney"; he has certain unmistakeable stylistic traits. Thought I recognised your name too from back in the day...(not that this will protect anyone from Barnification...)
