Alaska is beautiful but many of the people there do suffer from depression due to the climate. It's dark about 16 hours a day in the Winter which causes a drinking and drug habits, many companies charge more for shipping there, domestic violence is high on both women and men due to people not going out, which causes people to be bored with each other, much because of the treacherous roads.

Yes I'm with you on Alaska GM; filmed an episode of Entertainment USA there. Lovely place except for the bloody mosquitoes.

However the hikes in the wilderness makes it worthwhile. I went with a few friends in the very late very 80's.

I did go to a few bars in Alaska but you could tell people were suffering from the Winter Blues.

I am not sure it's the case still; but a lot of employers in Alaska forced staff go home early due to bad weather and night driving. Which will cause further boredom and tension at home.

If you don't drive and have low income you are stuck in Alaska!

However the public transport and infrastructure was great though. However it's stupid that trains to don't enter Canada.

It was the only time that I felt borders should be open.

Scandinavians living with even more extreme weather and light conditions are the exact opposite though?

Maybe Alaskans need more vitamin D and jigsaw puzzles?

Meanwhile the US has not ruled out their latest balloons may be "extra terrestrial". What with this and those recently released US fighter jet footage of unidentified flying objects, anyone get the feeling "they" are preparing us for something.....?

I have bought some boxes down from the loft, taken things to the tip(since my recent break in, I have learnt possession's are worthless, we all going to die eventually).

I have skimmed through some scrap books and diaries which I have forgotten about. I re-read the entries about the few weeks in Alaska. I found clippings about polar bear attacks. I did enjoy reading when a friend got chased by a moose, the homeless and violent drunks in Anchorage.

However reading the diaries, gave me flashbacks of the Alaskan news channels I watched back in the the day.

I remember about the soft sentence's were giving to violent husbands raping their wives, a lot of the perps were actually in the law enforcement or knew the inner circles.

Some husbands were actually allowed back in the family home.

What was it all about eh?

It was weather balloons, Chinese spy devices, extra terrestrials, it has been happening for years, it is a new outrage. It has now all gone quiet and the devices were benign. Some sort of agreement or order seems to have been re-established.

How exciting it all was. I need to sit down and take a breath. But I feel safer today knowing Rishi is the type of chap prepared to scramble Typhoons...
