Anyone else struggling to understand why Police released details about her health and vulnerabilities?

What possible purpose does this serve? The only reason I can think is to try and somehow mask their inadequacies in not finding her. Distract attention.

Also, I assume they didn't have her permission to release this information.

Maybe she is having an affair or maybe she had another phone to her. People do have midlife crisis.

I don't think the police really know what they looking...like the police who made a statement when I burgled the other day.
