Masks and science.... 2 Years, 4 Months ago

It is in - masks made "zero" difference to the spread of Covid 19:

Cochrane is widely regarded as the "gold standard" scientific review process and evaluation. The evidence, for all who respect the scientific process is now irrefutable.
And those of us here and elsewhere who argued the response to Covid was media rather than science led (as most people believed), wholly vindicated.

Trained people wearing properly fitted masks and following correct hygiene procedure are quite safe.
This is not the same as dangling what is effectively a well used handkerchief across your face and rubbing the collected snot and virus into your eyes regularly, which is what people did instead.
It could never succeed because nobody had the right masks (except for a few smartarses ) and there was no substitute.
I can accept that it was not possible to provide the correct equipment, but how do you get from "only medical fitted masks work" to "we have got no masks therefore we will just pretend" ?

An opinion piece written by two economists two years ago...
Really Barney, you must "follow the science" you know...
Are you saying you know better than scientists!? Tut tut that is very arrogant...

The West's provocations in Ukraine are undeniable GM but go back a long way; this isn't just down to Biden.

Far left newspaper with an article written by a far leftist.
I used to read New York Times and New Post when I lived in New York. I hated both newspapers. Both were too extreme for me.

That is interesting Cock Ring thanks for posting.
It does look as if the Cochrane review may be flawed. With so much contradictory, confused and in some cases plain false information out there, the author's call for much more data on mask efficacy seems pressing.
If cynics like me are in fact wrong on masks (or rather not wrong as such just not persuaded by the available evidence) then we need definitive research available.
One day, after all, a really serious virus may arrive.
